BOR is reporting that there is very serious talk about John Sharp entering the race for governor. Is this a good idea? When was the last election this guy won? Is he Democratic enough for the Progressives? Very doubtful.
Honestly, Chris Bell and John Sharp both donât have a chance at winning⦠Bell has ZERO name ID except with political nerds like us. Sharp has lost way 2 many times... God help us all!
God, why doesn't Sharp just go and switch parties already?
John Sharp is surrounded by a bunch of loser. He and his loser friends should stop running in the democratic primary and run in the republican primary.
I sense some hostility toward John Sharp.
Actually I couldn't agree with you guys more, except I don't.
I think John Sharp has some name ID, but he may act as a good foil for Chris Bell, who by all accounts is a moderate. If he wants to get the progressives really riled up and in his corner, I think a primary fight with Sharp could help, for whatever that's worth.
Like a lot of other Democrats, I think that Bell does have a chance, under some limited circumstances, to win the general. If he's running against Perry, after Perry has had his name dragged through the mud by Strayhorn, with a lot of her supporters voting for Bell in the general.
If Strayhorn were to win the GOP primary, then we would be left hoping that either a) Republicans decide they have something better to do on election day than vote or b) the conservative go and vote Democrat to spite Strayhorn. Of coure, by then we will have entered The Twilight Zone where people with pig faces are considered beautiful.
I'd have to give John Sharp no shot and Bell a decent shot against Perry. Bell can always increase his name ID, and we still have 18 months to go so it could be some great political theater.
Bells record please, cannot get reelected,... oh yea say redistricting screwed him ... then remember Gene Green has represented a majority minority district for years...Sharp, State Rep, Senate, Railroad Commission, Comptroller. Name ID still good except for Demos who still believe that Doggett can get elected statewide and that Howard Dean is the Democratic spokesman that is needed.
Wasn't Gene Green that high school kid that went to Boston in the NBA draft?
Did you see the Laney for Gov t-shirts on the House floor today.
Dear God, make John Sharp a bird, so he can fly far, far far away.
