How Does "Live Strong" Grab You As A Campaign Slogan?

Ann Curry interviewed Lance Armstrong and he's not running for governor.
Curry: You do have political aspirations?
Armstrong: No, no ...
Curry: You're saying you have no political aspirations?
Armstrong: I'm not ...
Curry: You're not saying you have no political aspirations?
Armstrong: I don't know what I'm saying. We're going to elect a new [Texas] governor next year - I'm not running next year.

We're electing a new governor next year? First we've heard of it.

If Armstrong is indeed an atheist, then it will be hard to win a Texas statewide election.

I don't think Mr. Armstrong would do well in Texas considering he "dumped" his rather boring wife for a pop singer. Additionally, I have heard he has a rather large ego, as well as being agnostic/atheist. He would do well in California politics however.

i, for one, welcome our new cyclist overlord.

hey, W got elected with a record, well-known and long history of drug and alcohol abuse, and a lot of burned bridges. with a story like LA, you can shuck and jive any questions about marital issues, religious (non)affiliation, etc.

as for ego, you're kidding, right? firstly and frankly, the guy is entitled to an ego (although it did precede his illness). more importantly, though, you do not run for public office without ego. i don't care who you are. i don't care what cause you champion. it goes with the territory. and the territory that comes with the governorship is large, my friend.

LA stands a good chance of winning. his story is uber-compelling and he has name recognition out the wahzoo. and, honestly, folks . . . we've got a lot of room for improvement at the mansion.

W got elected with a history of booze and drug use, but he was a "God-fearing" Christian man who had been married to the same women for years, that is a huge difference!!!!! In another state they may equate to the same thing, but being agnostic/atheist and divorced with a pop singer girlfriend is a little different in Texas. Not saying one is worse than the other, just making the point that in Texas it will be viewed as worse!

Ricky Williams has a better chance...
