Senate Lynch Mob

Yes, the U.S. Senate did pass a resolution to apologize for not being able to pass anti-lynching laws in the United States for 50 years. It passed unanimously. Eighty-four Senators are co-sponsors of the resolution. Those are the facts.

It should not surprise you that John Cornyn was among the 16 that did not use the revise and consent rule to add his name as a co-sponsor. Whatever happened to the good ol' days of a lynch mob? My, my, my...times they are a changin'.

Commenter says, Senate voted..it was unanimous and for everybody to just move on. Sure, we're moving on. This was a great thing the Senate did and it was only 50 years overdue. We're proud of the 84 senators that rushed to sign on after the fact as co-sponsors to make sure that just the 6 Senators that voted (that's how it was unanimous) weren't the only ones that could say they VOTED for the resolution. We just thought it would be cool if since it was, you know, unanimous the revise and extent rule could be used to add your name to the co-sponsor list instead of lying about it.

That's all. So, yeah, we're moving on.

The vote was unanimous; it's been passed. The Senate has apologized for the filibusters of southern Democrats. It's time to move on.

Thankfully, those Democrats all became Republicans.

Note that Hutchison is not co-sponsor either. She is listed on Sen. Landrieu's website (http://landrieu.senate.gov/lynching/supporters.cfm) as being in support of the resolution but not as a co-sponsor. Why not, I wonder?
