The Texas Monthly Best & Worst List was great and all, but then we started thinking....hey, PinkDome has a lot of smart people that probably have an opinion on the legislators this Session. So, in the comments leave us your ideas of the Best & Worst. Wonder if anyone will try to improve their ranking.
We'll pick two best and two worst.
Best
Representative Carter Casteel--A Republican who knows the difference between governing and politics. Standing up for her constituents and for public education make her a standout this session. You folks up there in the pink dome ought to be carrying Carter around on your shoulders.
Representative Senfronia Thompson--Love her. Someone told us Representative has 'no credibility' among the power elite. We think Rep. Thompson's devotion to her constituents and to the poor folk in Texas gives her enormous credibility and power. And besides, her impassioned speech on HJR 6 has made its way virally around the world via the Internet. That's some power.
Worst
Rep. Terry Keel--First off, he totally tried to trick PinkDome on a subject. Secondly, his petty killing of bills because his big melon head feelings got hurt were like the actions of a 7th grade girl, not a legislator. We think he must have stopped taking his Xanax when he accused a member of the judiciary of threatening him. All that and now he wants to be a member of the judiciary. What a tool.
Rep. Robert Talton--How can PD say anything but, "cockface" when describing Robert Talton? His big push this session was HJR 6 and a gay foster parents ban. He also had DPS officers guarding his office all session so the gays could not even get to him to talk to him. He's so immersed in hate and ignorance he's afraid to learn the truth that he speaks lies and hate. Definitely an embarrassment to the State of Texas.
Your ideas?
WORST:
Tom Craddick of (yes), Midland. Stubborn, adamant, hard-headed, inflexible and ignorantly intractable and opinionated. He was given everything he has in his life and lives in the 'Leave it to Beaver' world of the 1950's. If it don't benefit him, his family or his fellow oil buddies, you can forget it. A horrible epitome of the far right-wing republican party.
My take on one of the best: Shapleigh.
I echo Texas Monthly's take: "the conscience of the Senate (which doesnât want one)."
"doc" anderson....he sucks so bad I wont even capatalize his name
Talton on the GOP side and Edwards on the Dems as worst.
Senfronia Thompson as the best Dem - was there any worth while Reps this session?
