That was our *wink* to Rep. Farrar and her suggestion to the youth of today in the HJR6 committee meeting.
In today's USA Today (AKA...news-lite) there is a report on the backlash against the Republican party (nationally)after the recent unpleasantness with that woman in Florida:
Some old stereotypes about the two parties have been reversed:By 55%-40%, respondents say Republicans, traditionally the party of limited government, are â??trying to use the federal government to interfere with the private lives of most Americansâ?? on moral values.
By 53%-40%, they say Democrats, who sharply expanded government since the Depression, aren't trying to interfere on moral issues.
By more than 2-to-1, 39%-18%, Americans say the â??religious rightâ?? has too much influence in the Bush administration.
I hope every Dem in the State of Texas sees this. It is true. It is Democrats that believe in a balance between religion and government, not a wholesale religous government.
It is Democrats that believe in doing what's best for "most Americans" not a vocal minority.
All those Republicans that are moderate have no place in today's Republican Party. They should be opening the doors of the Democratic HQ to have a welcome party for them.
And all those that voted Republican thinking they were getting anything other than what they got...well, we hope they Wake Up!
Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
