We have learned that members of the Travis County Legislative Delegation will be holding bi-weekly breakfasts to let their consituents speak out about what is bothering them/make presentations/discuss important issues. The breakfasts will be held Tuesday, March 29, April 12, April 26, and May 10, 2005. The breakfasts are offered from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Texas Agriculture Museum, Room 1W.14 on the first floor of the State Capitol.
If you'd like to learn more, the contact is Sylvia Brittain (from Senator Barrientos' staff) at 463-0114.
We'd love to attend, but that's pretty damn early. We'll be too hungover to make any sense at that time of morning. So, if you see somebody at the breakfasts with dark eyeglasses sipping something out of brown paper bag please, for the love of God, give us some asprin.
Oh no...surely you jest. On purpose? Never!
I saw that in the paper today. I'd love to go to one, but I can't get to the Capitol before 8:30 (dropping kids off then fighting traffic, you know). I am particularly incensed over what they are doing to STAR+PLUS and would love a chance to explain why to my reps.
Scheduling these sorts of things short and early (and having hearings that go long and late) prevents any real citizen input. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose.
