Rep. Dianne White Delisi, R-Temple appears to have smeared some vaseline on the lense of her official photo. (Don't get us wrong, we know the business end of Photoshop ourselves) We wouldn't have said anything, but to quote her:

"And when legislators get their backs against the wall, all is fair and love and war," she said.

This 'compassionate conservative' is referring to a proposal that would take money from the hospital's trauma fund and scoot it over to general revenue to make up the enormous shortfall there. [San Antonio Express News, sub requ'd]

While hospitals are outraged, she glibly replies:

"The bill made real sense," Stewart said. "If you look at trauma injuries, most are related to motor vehicle accidents and risky driving behavior."

Here's hoping you don't cut someone off on the MOPAC, Representative Delisi. The trauma center doctors may request payment up front from you.

Amazing really. And what's more so is that she's from Temple. Home of Scott and White Hospital which is one of the best trauma centers in the state. (And I'd guess the cities largest employer).

If I get wacked on the MOPAC, I'm asking the helo driver to head towards Temple.

Can't you read? Rep. Delisi, who created the trauma fund, said hospitals are justified in their concern.

xxx at January 31, 2005 6:12 PM

Yeah, I can read. Yeah she did say they were justified in their concern. She also says legislators are looking for money in every nook and cranny and all's fair in love and war.

Trauma funds aren't love and they aren't war. Her words were not carefully chosen. She should have said, I'm not in favor of taking money from the trauma fund and I'll work hand in hand with the hospitals to see that this doesn't happen.

We need to get money from somewhere but the trauma fund doesn't seem the right place to get it.

Delisi..if you need a new spokesperson, give us a call. We're tons more articulate than you are and we're drunk right now.

I can't believe you write something as stupid about someone based on the comments the reporter chose to use. She created the fund. She championed trauma funding. It's why Texas Monthly named her one of the ten best members last session.

I look forward to your posting about Van de Putte's bill to require every kid's BMI on their report card.

C'mon how can I not write something stupid. In case you missed it, the topic is politics. By the way, XXX are you related to the porn industry or something? Why XXX? Now you've distracted me and I'll have to go surf web porn. Curses!
