Tennessee’s Senate approved a bill that would prohibit schools from referring to, saying, or acknowledging “homosexuality” in any curriculum in the state. (HuffPo) Teachers who break that law will have committed a misdemeanor, punishable by as much as 30

days in jail and a $50 fine. I decided to take a little “Perez Hilton” liberties with Stacey Campfield I hope he likes it! It could be his new campaign poster….or just show up in Google searches for his name from now on. Whatevs.

Of course, Tennessee is facing a lot of serious issues and this clown has been pushing this proposal for years. Instead of focusing on budget shortfalls, scads of people waiting two years for Medicaid coverage, low test scores, flood relief, or what ever people in public office ought to be talking about he’s got the whole damn state talking about “don’t say gay.”

Although the bill isn’t going to make it much further, Campfield has made his point. He hopes that marginalizing, and humiliating gay people that he somehow wins. That his “heterosexuality” somehow makes him better or “right” and that all we have to do is not acknowledge gay people and they’ll go away.

Anyone that has the ability to think in a rational way knows that is not true.  All Campfield has managed to do is strengthen the resolve of the people that all the anti-gay legislation and puffed out chests of homophobes really is wrong, hateful and moved the needle on this issue into a true civil rights issue.

So, in a way, thank you for that Stacey Campfield.
