BP, an enemy everyone can love to hate
What is it now, day 36 of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico? It’s awful. It’s sad. It was an accident. The outrage on this disaster is so misplaced it is almost comical. Sure, there is some blame to go around and mistakes and motivation by greed caused some things to go unnoticed…but, at the end of the day, no one was hoping their oil well would explode and kill people and then spew millions of gallons of oil into the ocean.
That stuff is expensive, yo! Seeing it go to waste has got to be heartbreaking for BP.
When the media runs a headline like “BP CEO Yells at Photographer”
I had to go watch the video to see how much hyperbole the media was using. Sure enough, I was not surprised. A.) he did not really yell and b.) the idiot photographer was about to step in a pile of oil that everybody else was approaching with hazmat suits. The guy deserved to get a “Hey, get out of there!”
I loved reading the hippy dippy comments on HuffPo about the entitlement of the BP CEO telling an American where he could and could not film were so appalling. Give me a break. Ain’t nobody telling nobody nothing. BP could probably give three sh#$s where you film. I think they have bigger fish to fry than your 5 o’clock news program.
This cleanup is going to take a very long time and cost a lot of money, no doubt. Even then, the Gulf will feel the effects of this disaster for a very long time.
It is terribly sad for me because I grew up vacationing in the Gulf of Mexico and it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Now, they may be ruined. I don’t know why it couldn’t have happened to the Texas Coast because you wouldn’t be able to tell a difference anyway.
I do think some of the outrage is a little disingenuous, however. I don’t see anyone rushing to stop driving their oil guzzler SUVs and demanding we stop using fossil fuels. I just see a lot of people with not a lot of time on their hands yelling for the head of the CEO of BP. I’m confident the punishment for this disaster will fit. I don’t see them “getting away with anything” when they’ve destroyed the coast of America.

What has taken the president 5 weeks to finally do something about the oil spill? EPA said yesterday that “they were in command” so I guess the ultimate blame has to go to the politicians and not BP. The government could have done more and sooner as the LA. governor said. Do something or get out of the way.
Uhm,,,,what happened to all those “Drill Here, Drill Now!!! ads and T shirts. Wish I had one.
