Can Lehmberg be a better Earle?

July 17, 2009 Uncategorized

New Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg has indicted Rep. Kino Flores (D-Palmview) on a littany of charges. In the great tradition of former Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle, we’ll see what sticks. The Travis County DA is about the closest thing Texas has to a State Ethics Committee since the real one is powerless and apathetic towards any ethics complaints.

Nothing like picking out a rep from Palmview to make your first case. It’s almost like taking on the minor leagues before you head to the “show”.

  1. Ian Reid says:

I hope she will do as well as Earle, the man who helped us identify Tom DeLay as a crook. Unfortunately, the courts are crooked too; he has yet to be fully brought to justice.

I have no objection to a slow and easy start as long as she sets out in the right direction and learns to pick up the pace. The public interest has been largely sacrificed to the current ‘pay to play’ political orientation and there’s a long, long road ahead in the restoration of our political process. Let’s cheer her on.
