Open your legs, GOP, let ‘em slide right in
I find it ironic that someone would appeal to the GOP to not be a whorehouse, when that is all they’ve been for the ten years. Whoring out the party to the far-right just for political power. But, if they suddenly are “born again” with a newfound purity, so be it. It’ll be a newfound purity that won’t get any votes but whatever.
[David] Carney [strategist for Governor Rick Perry] said he agreed that the Republican Party needed to attract new voters. But, he added, “that doesn’t mean you take your principles and throw them out the door and become a whorehouse and let anybody in who wants to come in, regardless.” (AAS)
So here we go. Governor Perry’s strategy is to continue the divisive GOP tactics that made the Bush adminsitration infamous. Perfect. I sense a bitter and exhausting campaign for governor shaping up. And Mr. Carney, you are exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party and why your party has been decimated in the last few election cycles. The narrow focus of the Republican Party on social issues and warmongering appealed to the lowest common demoninator in politics and finally (thankfully) backfired on the party.
I, for one, am thrilled to see more moderate Republicans emerge as party leaders and push out the idealogues and hateful party members. I say open up your legs, GOP, let people in for some good ol’ fiscal conservatism lovin’. How about some hot seductive talk about budget reductions, putting an end to deficit spending, tax reform, and business friendly legislation.
I need a cigarette just thinking about it!
