Representatives Mike Villarreal and Joaquin Castro talked to the press about sex education today. San Antonio Rep. Mike Villarreal’s HB 1567 would require all instruction concerning condoms and contraception to be “scientifically accurate.” WhileSan Antonio Rep. Joaquin Castro’s HB 741 would mandate “abstinence-plus,” an approach that pushes abstinence as the best idea but acknowledges it may not always be a real-world alternative.
I like the fact the Villareal isn’t afraid to insert science into the gaping hole of sex education in this state. It’s about time that governments, school boards, legislators, and parents take their collective head out of their collective asses and confront teen pregnancy like the epidemic it is. Telling kids to wear a purity ring or wait until they are in love and get married is not effective. A&M published a report years ago stating that abstinence only education does not work. Anybody that has ever been a teenager already knows that part.
We have got to tell kids today the facts. If you are are going to have sexual intercourse you must use protection in the form of a condom. A condom not only prevents pregnancy, but also the spread of disease. If you don’t want to use a condom then you need to resort to mutual-masturbation, a little oral and maybe some backdoor action. Still risky for disease but nobody ever got pregnant from a hand job.
It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
