Stop in the name of Carona

March 30, 2009 Uncategorized

Dallas Senator Carona (no lime, please) managed to eek out a victory for his sobriety checkpoint bill today. Ah, big things and big ideas never get past this group, do they?

Define irony: Texas senators debating sobriety. Something they wouldn’t know about even if it were defined on the bottom of a glass of scotch.

The CDC says that sobriety checkpoints may be effective in reducing the number of alcohol-related accidents, so I’d recommend we incude and amendment to SB298 that states every two years we have a mandatory checkpoint surrounding all traffic paths from The Cloak Room.

    I’ll drink to that. **HIC**

I’m sure you were shocked that the most vociferous opponent is the biggest drinker in the Senate… It’s only a matter of time until APD quits letting him off when the stop him (last session they did so twice.)
