The Senate Finance Committee sent the budget to the floor with a 14-0 vote. The $177 billion budget is not controversy-free…but then again when is anything up there controversy-free. (Well, everybody loves taco day at the cafeteria, but besides that)

Senator Zaffirini complained about the ban on funds for embryonic stem cell research and Lucio complained about managed care and Shapiro raised doubts about school technology allotments. Each clearly marking “cover my ass” off their to-do lists for the day.
