How many school shootings, gun rampages in malls and universities, guns seized from disgruntled employees and standoffs with the police do we have to have in this country before we start to have different ideas about gun control?
If you want a gun, that’s fine with me. But, why do you need 10 guns? Why do you need semi-automatic guns? Why do people on medication for mental issues get guns? Why does Dick Cheney get to keep a gun after he shot a man in the face?

Why do people on medication for mental issues get guns?
Because of HIPPA, the federal law concerning medical confidentiality. There is no way for gun dealers, even the best of the lot, to know that a person is being treated for a mental condition. Nor could a federal oversight agency know this unless they have the power to circumvent HIPPA.
I have said that HIPPA would kill people. But, I was referring to the obstacles it places between physicians or among physicians who need to share medical information, but cannot do so because some necessary release-of-information form has not been executed correctly. I really never thought of it causing deathes in this particular context.
Oh, what tunnel vision I have had on this matter.
