I think the last paragraph in this story sums it up:
Study: False statements preceded war
“Some journalists — indeed, even some entire news organizations — have since acknowledged that their coverage during those prewar months was far too deferential and uncritical. These mea culpas notwithstanding, much of the wall-to-wall media coverage provided additional, ‘independent’ validation of the Bush administration’s false statements about Iraq,” it said.
The Fourth Estate really let me down.

Shocking! It’s kind of like now as Iraq is becoming increasingly more stable you’re hearing less about it because at the end of the day the media only wants to report on the body counts. The press has gotten so lazy they are essentially just ambulance chasers now.
