Rep. Bonnen Has a Short Memory

February 19, 2007 Uncategorized

Rep. Dennis Bonnen laid out HB 1098 tonight in the Public Health committee. His bill is essentially a rebuke to Perry’s much maligned executive order requiring all 6th grade girls to agree to have loose morals and never use a condom.
During the hearing, Bonnen mentioned that he had never heard of Merck prior to the Governor’s executive order. Only, you know, he accepted $500 from them in 2002. So there’s that.

He has a short memory and he’s bald. And he always stares at people in the audience during committee hearings which is creepy.

Shouldn’t we be happy that he took the money and opposed Merck anyway? Sure its hipocritical, and I wouldn’t want to give him money now, but he is standing up for his principles, I mean political gain, and not doing the will of his donors.

  8. Dennis says:

This man is an elected official, but has never heard of Merck? What rock has he been hiding under? It’s amazing, but his web site has a 542 word biography that doesn’t one time mention the word “Republican”.

The first Vioxx trial was in Angleton. About a block from Bonnen’s office. In 2005. I think it made the papers.

    What’s good for the goose…
I’m not sure of Bonnen’s total campaign funds but I’m guessing $5,000 in gubanatorial campaign that everyone is making a big deal about is roughly equal to $500 in a state rep. campaign.
