The Devil in Jerry Falwell

September 24, 2006 Uncategorized

Once again, Jerry Falwell, opens his mouth and shows his insincere adherence to Christian values. He announced to a group of pastors that if Hillary Clinton were the nominee in 2008 nothing would energize evangelicals more…not even if the devil himself were to run. You know, it kind of got me to thinking what exactly what the devil’s platform for the office of president be? I mean, surely the devil would be a wildly popular candidate…after all only 85% of Americans adhere to a religious belief so I’m sure the devil would take that 15% of non-believers and really make them into a majority in no time.
If only we could say Jerry Falwell is irrelevant, but…sadly we cannot. This perverter of Christian beliefs twists and manipulates and terrorizes politicians and ordinary hard working Americans into believing his hate filled spew that comes from whatever pit he crawled out of.

  1. I think the Devil might run on a platform of sitting idly by while terrorists attack our largest city and kill thousands of people; botch the attempt to catch the terrorist leader and instead invade another country that had nothing to do with it; and when that turned into a disaster plan to invade yet another country.
On domestic policy: cut taxes for the rich, destroy the middle class, send everyone’s jobs overseas. Dismantle civil liberties; set people at each others’ throats along racial, religious and regional lines.
Do it all while proclaiming one’s own holiness and adherance to christian values while painted any who disagree as evil-doers.

Oh, please. Bush is not the Devil. Satan’s much smarter than Bushie.

Falwell is nuts, but nuttier still is where his agenda is heading. Last weekend a group gathered in Chicago to start planning an all out war on contracpetion, that’s right, the same people that want to prohibit abortion want to take away the best method of preventing unintended pregancies. Tyler at RH Reality Check.org is doing a special series of blog posts on this all this week and next and people really need to pay attention to just how far outside the mainstream the far right is moving, before in fact we’re fighting for our rights to buy condoms.

If any of you actually took the time to listen to Jerry Falwell’s platform without shooting him down just because he’s a republican and religious you’d realize he’s fighting for you. He’s for religious liberties - yes this includes Christian ones since we seem to be being attacked by liberals, especially the ACLU. He’s for life - so that if you were a baby concieved out of wed-lock you’d have had a chance at life and not have it snuffed out before you could defend yourself. And he’s for traditional families not only becuase this is God-ordained but because it’s proven by psychologists as the most healthy, productive, and reproductively efficient method. Not only is this a political view but it’s exactly what God suggests we believe. Don’t take your frustrations and political views out on Falwell, take them out on God. You’ll be standing before him before you know it. But then it may be too late, I hope not. The right, more specifically the religious right, are trying in their most sincere and best efforts to share the good news about Christ and promote His ideals in the world (much like Islamic extremists, but we’re forgetting that they’re only out to kill every American they can…at least we’re peacful). And yes, Falwell never skips a meal, but I’d much rather have a fat man on my side who believes in the Bible than one who’s not. I can say this because I know Jerry and can comment on what I actally KNOW and see. I don’t agree with all of his views and comments but he’s done a lot more for the family and unborn children in this country than most presidents or politicians ever would.
