Bell Does Good

Bellzila strikes! Chris Bell got a good article in the AAS today (read: bad article for Strayhorn) by concentrating on what got him a ton of great headlines a few years ago: ethics.
Bell charged Strayhorn with being both unethical and a Republican after reviewing documents received via an open records request. Specifically:

In early June, a lawyer and an accountant who represent businesses challenging taxes collected by state Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn’s office met with a legal adviser to Strayhorn. By month’s end, the visitors and their colleagues had given more than $400,000 to Strayhorn’s gubernatorial campaign — 13 percent of the $3 million she raised from January through June.

The article makes a point to note that the donations were consistent with previous giving. Even so, props to Bell’s campaign for getting some traction on an issue on which he has both experience and clout.

How dare they talk smack about “Grandma”?! The woman who is spending who knows how much in legal fees to go by such a name on the ballot. Ridonkulous.
