Imagine: you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission — to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is “to conduct physical and spiritual warfare”; all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. Link to buy the game here. Well “pre-order” the game.

Now, if a video game came out with a message to kill all Christians would anyone be a little upset about that? And besides, haven’t the good people of NYC suffered enough as it is? I mean why can’t the game be set in Dallas? That’s where we know true evil lives.

What’s next? Targeting illegal immigrants as they swim across the border? Hmmmm…

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. SuperWow! ends all attempts at irony with sad truth. :(

  4. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

Video games are a very effective medium. The video game industry takes in more money than Hollywood.

  5. The Other Guy on Wednesday 31, 2006

That is so sad. It was probably designed by someone calling themselves Christians.

  6. Lovecow2000 on Wednesday 31, 2006

“remake America as a theocracy”? Hey isn’t that already happening?

Hi, You can read more pieces by the author of this story — including a follow-up tomorrow, with grisly detail — at Talk to Action, where he is a featured writer.
At Talk to Action, we write about the religious right and what to do about it.

Though I am sure WONK will disagree, this is yet another example of why I (and a growing number of others) totally disdain christians. Yes, I know, not all christians are like this and bla bla bla. But to even be associated with such people through name alone would be enough for me to leave a group. After all, I am sure there were nice Nazi’s, Communists and people of the Taliban, though most don’t want to be associated with such groups today.

  9. Fine Bottled Water on Wednesday 31, 2006

Imagine that. A post about Christians, and gayinmidland brings up Nazis.
    Haven’t seen that before.

  10. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

Gayinmidland - you have deep seeded emotional issues.

  11. gayinmidland on Wednesday 31, 2006

Well.. daaaaaa.. look at the game and post above.. and imagine if the Nazi’s did have video games. Would they not be killing jews and gays in thier game too?
And quite frankly I am sick and fuckin tired of being slammed for the comparison. I’m not an idiot and know the difference between a Nazi and a Christian. My comparison/analogy is to call attention tho the fact the German people sat and did nothing while a fanatical group took control of the government - just like what could happen here with the right-wing Christians. If you do not think so, go and look at this website:
    http://www.tfn.org/rrreport06/index.php
Then read the Texas Republican Platform and tell me if you do not then get chills down your spine. Otherwise, stop slamming me for giving my opinion.

  12. gayinmidland on Wednesday 31, 2006

And you WONK are a prime example of what I refer to to. You obviously agree with all the crap your church tells you then agree with the Taliban-like Republican Party platform. And you tell ME I have deep seeded emotional issues? You are a moron, an idiot and a future leader of the Christian Theocratic movement. After you get your gun and golden cross you can come and arrest me and put me in a camp. I am sure you dream of such a day.

  13. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

    Thank you proving me right.

  14. gayinmidland on Wednesday 31, 2006

No, thank you wonk. Now go and read your “love thy neighbor” guidebook and continue to show the world what a hypocrite you are to your “religion” and your god. Even if I wanted to be a Christian I would not as long as people like you claim to be.

  15. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

    Ok weirdo.

  16. Fine Bottled Water on Wednesday 31, 2006

gayinmidland - I was just pointing out the predictability of your comments. It’s pretty much guaranteed that when there’s a post on Christianity, you’ll make a subtle (or not so) comparison to Nazism.
And you’ve participated in this debate previously, too: the fact that the Christian Right is the most outwardly visible and vocal (politically and otherwise, IMO) sect of Christianity doesn’t mean that all Christians feel as they do. Put down your broad brush.
Or keep painting. I don’t really care. I was simply pointing out the obvious (as you feel you are, too).

  17. gayinmidland on Wednesday 31, 2006

The reason for the comparison is for shock value as well as true linear comparison. It amazes me that people today (usually of liberal persuasion unfortunately) think such things as the holocaust, ethnic cleansing, etc. could not happen today, or heaven forbid, here in America.
However, a quick look to other parts of the world show us that humanity has, alas, not learned much from the Nazi Holocaust of many years ago. All movements must start from a beginning. It is my thought that if the religious right continues, the ultimate outcome would, in fact, not be that far removed from a Taliban or Nazi model.
Just because we are “Americans” does not make us (or our country) immune from the dark forces of evil, hate and prejudice that the rest of humanity has had to endure and battle in the past. The cries of a “Culture War” should confirm that the battle has already begun.

  18. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

    LMAO
Thanks. I just showed some people at work your post.

  19. Laughing_at_Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

For that imbecile to call someone else a “weirdo” astounds me. He mocks gayinmidland for feeling persecuted, but doesn’t think it’s “weird” that a right-wing heterosexual haunts a gay blog for entertainment and attention? The turd is a ‘tard!

  20. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

    Yet you stalk me.
    Hmmmm
Looks look your the imbecile and a butt wizard as well.

  21. Laughing_at_Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

I don’t stalk you, I comment about what an ass clown you are when I’m here trying to learn and laugh.
Nice to see you finally admit you are a “butt wizard”, too. Atta boy…err..girl!

  22. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

Right after I post and poof you’re there to follow.
A blog stalker how much more pathetic can a person get?

  23. sabestian on Wednesday 31, 2006

Ethnic cleansing? Wall to separate the Mexicans? Mass deportation? Hmmmm. I don’t care who comes here. They just need to pay their portion of the tab and not expect me to learn their language. I am tired of not having what we need in schools because of the massive increase in the Mexican student population every year and the leadership’s inability to budget for the increases. Or is it because of the burgeoning athletic department budgets? Sorry immigrants. My mistake. Football is king.
SuperWow, thanks for the link. I wonder why the online Columbine shooting re-enactment game didn’t draw as much attention as the suppossed Left Behind game.

  24. Laughing_at_Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006

I don’t know, asshat, how much more pathetic CAN you get?

  25. Wonk on Wednesday 31, 2006
