HB 110, filed by Villareal and Strama, is likely making James “Whoremonger” Leininger pretty pissy this morning. The bill would limit individuals to spending no more than $100,000 on political races each election cycle.
Clearly, this would throw a monkey wrench in Leininger’s ultimate goal to have the entire Legislature receiving the overwhelming majority of their campaign contributions from his coffers. I mean, he funded five last session - why stop there?
But this bill wouldn’t just affect Leininger:
Eighty-seven individuals or couples gave $100,000 or more in contributions for statewide offices in 2003 and 2004, for a total of $28.8 million, according to the Austin-based watchdog group Texans for Public Justice. That represents about 9 percent of all political money raised during that two-year election cycle.
I sense a Whoremonger PAC in the future.
Is that a ‘ball-gag’? S&M on the first post? Way to go!
Welcome, SuperWow! Whoremonger PAC. Perfect. Anyone have a list of the other 87?
Is that a ‘ball-gag’?
Ha. It’s actually supposed to be a ‘Terrence-and-Philip-esque’ screaming mouth. But ball-gag works, too.
SuperWOW - I super loves it. Leininger, with his flappy head and his beady little eyes. Shut your F****ng face uncle F****r!
A fool and his money…and they said DeLay couldn’t be touched either.
Suppose Jeff Fleece will see some Lie-nin-GRRRRR money now?
And how long before such a law would be dragged before the Supreme Court?
Take it to the Supremes … federal caps on campaign donations have stood the test, why would this be any different?
