Just heard something about a deal on teacher pay raises that Craddick and Dewhurst worked out. $2000 across the board, and $1000 in incentive pay. It’ll be added to HB 1.

Incentive pay? That dog won’t hunt. What’s the incentive tied to? TAKS? Grades? Graduation rates? What?
$2000 for the first pound and $1000 for every pound after that.

$1000 is not enough to serve as an incentive. Oh–except as an incentive to vote for these bozos in the fall. As far as retaining teachers, the literature suggests the 1K will do next to nothing.
