Hard to believe

But Media Matters isn’t happy with the announcement that Tony Snow will be the new White House Press Secretary. Their statement in the permalink.
We aren’t that surprised at the choice, but we were surprised when CNN this morning said that Snow had said some tough things about the current administration. Um, okay. We go to his old FOX News site and it looks like he has a lot of positive things to say about Bush. Can someone point us to any “tough” comments he made against the administration? Thanks.
Oh, and if you can view his rendition of the “Spongebob Squarepants” song, please let us know how that is. For some reason, my computer won’t let me view it.

Statement from Media Matters for America President and CEO David Brock on New White House press secretary Tony Snow
April 26, 2006 (Washington, DC) — David Brock, President and CEO of Media Matters for America, released the following statement in response to the formal announcement that outgoing White House press secretary Scott McClellan will be replaced by syndicated columnist and Fox News host Tony Snow:
“Tony Snow and the Bush White House seem like a match made in heaven: Snow and his colleagues at Fox News have been among the most effective spokespeople for the Bush administration. But given Snow’s long history of making false and misleading claims, his hiring will do little to change the perception that the White House is more interested in stonewalling and deception than in getting the facts out.
“As we continue to witness the same pattern of misinformation and lack of transparency by the Bush administration, we urge the White House press corps to demand real answers from the new press secretary. The media have already given President Bush a free pass on too much.

A column Tony Snow wrote that says the president has “lost control of the federal budget and cannot resist the temptation to stop raiding the public fisc.”. Etc.

The Huffington Post has this link to Think Progress - a compilation of “tough words” Snow has had on the Bush administration since 2000.

I thought it was a good choice. The last guy was a dick.

I can’t comment on that because it is the subject of an ongoing investigation, and anyway, I don’t know, but I can get back to you. Can we move on, please?

gak, I hate to sound like I’m defending Snow, but the Media Matters permalink *does* list some tough criticisms–”impotent,” “wimp” and “reckless heirs” to name a few.
That said, you can’t confuse those paucity of name calling approaching objectivity or fair-mindedness. Those critical words come from the perspective of someone who wants to promote an ideological agenda. At times, talking heads like Snow and Savage seem like they’re not Bush loyalists. But those few criticisms are put into perspective when Snow accepted the job to lie for Bush and to mislead the media.
