Musings

Let’s say I was a Democratic consultant who, for a longtime, worked for a guy who played a rather large role in crafting the current tax bill. Let’s say I played a role in helping get some Democratic House members elected, and even had some sway with other members.
What would I do regarding the current debate on the House floor? Would I try and exert my influence and help Rick Perry pass the plan because my old boss helped out with it? Would I jeopardize Texas schoolchildren and good Democratic members because of my old loyalties?
What would you do?

Does my name rhyme with “Sparrow”?
If so, I would give bad advice to the Members I have a relationship with, because I’m more interested in my own bosses legacy than doing what’s right for Texas.

PD your naievete is quite endearing. I’m a consultant. Therefore; I sell myself to whomever is willing to pay my asking price. While I pretend to be independent, I know Rick Perry &Tom Craddick are my pimps.

  3. Anonymous says:

did he really just pause for a recognition of his fam. Talk about stalling

  4. Ed says:

Let’s say I have a pretty good idea who you are suggesting here. Let’s also say that you are too chickenshit to pick up the phone and find out for yourself.
seriously, are you gonna blame this “consultant” for Dem’s innefectiveness this session? sounds to me like the caucus needs to get their members in line if a conultant has that much power. then again, maybe the consultant only has that much power because they are the only one who seems to be able to win tight races?
Sounds like some democrats need a reality check here. is your self image that out of whack?

  5. the real ed says:

who’s messing with my good name? I ain’t messin’ with nobody except Republicans.

  6. seth says:

not sure who this original post is supposed to be about but ed makes some good point about the democrats’ new credo: blame the consultants for their own spinelessness.

  7. Jobu says:

So did Kelly Fero call Donna Howard and others to get them to vote for HB 3? Who else?

  8. Ed says:

I thought we were talking about peck?

  9. the real ed says:

consultants don’t vote, so don’t inflate their importance. have better stuff to do, like saving stones for throwing at R’s. night all.

  10. Jobu says:

So we’re talking about Peck calling Mark Homer to get him to switch his vote back against HB 3 after Homer committed to the Speaker to vote for HB 3?

  11. ed says:

i don’t know dennis. did he?

  12. Marie says:

Kelly Fero does what John Sharp tells him to, and John Sharp told Kelly Fero to bend over like he has.

  13. anonymous says:

give it up people. stop guessing about guesses and pulling names out of your ass. go get drunk or laid or something worthwhile.
    seriously

  14. seth says:

Interesting conspiracy theories from “ed” and “Marie.” But a glance this morning at the votes on HB3 cast by legislators associated with Fero shows that several of them voted against the bill and several voted voted for it. So it would seem he gave each of them advice tailored to their needs and their districts. “anonymous” has it right — stop working yourselves into uninformed hysteria based on rumor and conjecture.

  15. dallaspolitics says:

I don’t get it? what is Musing?

  16. d says:

Apparently, “musing” means sitting around and figuring out how to smear other people without worrying about the facts. Sounds like Karl Rove to me.

  17. RockStar says:

I’m gonna go with Seth on this one and say, from what i learned hanging around all these members all day long, that this was a very personal vote for a lot of them (not all of them) and that many many many went into the debate not knowing how they were going to vote. it depended on their district, their personal politics, and only the really weak scared ones made it about loyalty.

  18. the wizard says:

    d-
Karl Rove my fat pink ass.
You all want Pinkdome to report rumors, or not? No one minds all the rumors that this site spreads until it affects them. And yeah - I’ve been pissed about some of the stuff they say. But hey - it’s all or nothing, right?
“Musings” is about reporting shit that’s said on the floor and in the hallways. It’s the same stuff PD always does, and it’s what we love them for. That and their glorious parties.
Stop acting like a pussy and deal with it.

  19. pinkdome says:

^Yeah, what the wizard said. Stop being pussies.
