  2. Wonk says:

Damn. I never thought this was going to happen. I hope they lock up colyandro too. I meet that guy…he is a real prick. Today is a good day.

  3. Wonk says:

He has just stepped down from majority leader. HA!

  4. bluebonnet says:

    Thank you, Jeebus!!

  5. Frank Rivera says:

Watching White House Press secretary Scott McClellan answer questions from the White House press corp. in response to the indictment, I was reminded of the Mouth of Sauron before the final fall in Lord of the Rings.

  6. Cody says:

Tom Delay gets indicted…Bill Frist caught in the middle of insider trading and knowledge of his stocks… This might end up being a good month, yet.

  7. gayinmidland says:

Serves him right. He is a mean, right-wing, gay-hating, neo nazi. He would have been a star in Hitler’s cabinet.

  8. Anonymous says:

what do you think the D responce to this will be? i would bet money that dunnam, coleman and gallego have a press conference, issue a press release and then they let it fall by the side — missing another opportunity.
    damn our leaders suck.
we need new leadership! anchia! strama! veasey! that is the future for us — the future has to be now!

  9. Marie says:

    Anchia, Strama and Veasey…. yum.

  10. Wonk says:

Gayinmidland you’re such a moron. Liberals throw around the Nazi label too much. That must be why the majority people look at liberals and there views as a joke.
    He’s a meanie. HA. Pussy.

  11. Joe Friday says:

Delay plays hardball. It’s just an indictment so he ain’t gone yet. Yes the Texas Democratic leadership is non-existent and drunk. There’s hope at the national level.

  12. Anonymous says:

we should all flood the inboxes and voicemails of the current leaders — dunnam, coleman & gallego. we should ask them to step down — to save our party. their failed leadership is costing us every day.
this indictment gives us a prime opportunity to make gains in the state house — but the current leadership can’t do it — they live in the past.
reps. anchia, strama and veasey — please come and save our party!
rep. senfronia thompson should come and steal the microphone from the current leadership and pass it on to the next generation.

  13. Marie says:

Freshman reps… I get older, they stay the same age.

  14. Wonk says:

The D’s in the House are a Joke….bottom line. The best part is…the D’s know it.

  15. Jeff says:

There might be hope at the national level.

  16. Joe Friday says:

Jeff, there is much hope. We, in Texas, are going to have to be patient about Texas.

  17. Sandra P. says:

I don’t know how you people expect Democrats to get anything passed in the House without selling out their districts to DeLay, Craddick and the Republicans. The damn Repugs control the committees, the Calendar and kill any major Dem legislation for one reason and one reason only - because they can. That’s not leadership. Get off of the Dem leadership’s backs. If you think you can do better, file your paperwork and get your name on a ballot.

  18. gayinmidland says:

Marie - better a moron than a total bitch. You may not agree with me but don’t call me a moron. I think the way I do about Delay because he goes out of his way to stop any type of legislation that could help gays; hate crime bills, equal pay, marriage, civil unions, housing discrimination, etc. You name it, he hates it if it shows the slightest bit of “gayness” on it - whether its fair or not.
So stop calling other people names if you don’t agree with them. And by the way, I thought conservatives were suppose to be fair, balanced, nice and “Christian”.

  19. Anonymous says:

it has nothing to do with selling out — it has everything to do with gaining seats in the house. there is a lot that the leadership should have been doing during the sessoin and a lot that they should be doing now. but they are busy sitting on their thumbs doing nothing. dunnam, coleman, gallego — a bunch of do nothing losers. they already lost the 06′ cycle — they lost it when they didn’t start working for it after election day 04′.

  20. Marie says:

gayincraddick’sbackyard - you talkin’ to ME? You talkin’ to ME?
I HEART gay people, where ever they are. Especially if they are stuck in Midland, of all places.

  21. Marie says:

I beg to differ, Anonymous. Ever been to the Capitol during session? They are always there. And so are their their staff members, bless their little hearts. Want to find a Republican or his staff during Session? Check that country bar on 71. Reps. Coleman, Gallego and Dunnam are the hardest working men in show business. You’ve got a bone to pick with them, fine. Just base it on fact and not on whatever it is you’re pulling out of your ass.

  22. Sandra P. says:

Anonymous - what’s the matter? Cranking on the leadership but too skeered to post your name? Under the Dem leadership this past session, we killed alot of bad legislation. What, do you think those POO’s just magically fell in the Freshmen’s laps??? You have alot to learn.

  23. gayinmidland says:

Sorry my sweet Marie.. I was talking about WONK… yes. WONK.. come defend yourself WONK. Defend your man Delay against charges that he is a gay-hater. Defend your wonderful Delay that he wants to work for ALL Americans.. HA! HA!

  24. Amerloc says:

Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but it’s a LONG way from an indictment to a conviction, and Delay will make it take as long as he possibly can. I’m hoping for a conviction before my (soon-to-be-born) granddaughter graduates high school.

  25. Anonymous says:

    Marie:
i’ve been to the capitol during session — everyday of session. it makes no difference who is there while session is going on. you are right, coleman keeps his staff in his office until midnight for no reason — yay! wow, that is incredible leadership on his part.
none of those guys were thinking about how to use session to advance D’s after session was over. none of those guys have even starting thinking about the next election! how many candidates have they recruited? NONE! how much money have they raised? NONE!
if you want to get some bills passed and not just stop a few peices of legislation, then you have to get D’s in office. the current leadership can’t do it — and to be honest with you — i know for a fact that they don’t care.
dunnam would rather be at home with his family — very noble. he is only interested in taking credit if something good happens but isn’t doing anything positive for the party.
coleman is to paranoid to help anyone else. on the days he does manage to show up for work he is busy complaining about the white D’s instead of helping them hold their seats. he would rather run off with his alleged fundraising ability (never had to raise any serious cash in his life) than fight.
gallego is just waiting to run for the senate — he could care less about the house.
lets get some people in there who are hungry, passionate, care about the future and are willing to come out of the dark ages of legislative and campaign strategy.
marie - don’t just give your jr staffer 2 cents opinion if you don’t know what you are talking about.

  26. Anonymous says:

“Under the Dem leadership this past session, we killed alot of bad legislation.”
Some D thinks that this is an accomplishment — what a sad statement for our party and our future!
Don’t you want to pass some bills? We need new leadership who is interested in getting something done, not just talking about the very few things they didn’t let pass.
New leaders will lead to new democrats getting elected. This current group just can’t cut it.

  27. Wonk says:

You fucking MORON Gayinmidland. Learned to read or has all the butt sex banged your brains out?
I don’t give a fuck about delay. Read my first post (Second from the top). HA HA top.

  28. Marie says:

Junior staffer? I think not, asshole. Sitting in the gallery between your Eat Out In Deliveries doesn’t make you an expert on legislation. You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, much less anything about strategy, who’s running & where or how they got there. Do you? Are they supposed to consult you, whoever the hell you are, the retard who wants freshman to take over after less than a year on the job? On what planet?

  29. PinkDome says:

The heat is messing with y’all sense of decorum. Leave it to PD to call people fucking morons.

  30. Wonk says:

Marie man you are such a raging bitch you need a stiff dick. Marie you’re nothing but an assistant admin aide, if that.

  31. anthony says:

curious to know how this started with DeLay and ended up on butt sex in midland…
    Anonymous:
“Don’t you want to pass some bills? We need new leadership who is interested in getting something done, not just talking about the very few things they didn’t let pass.”
    pretty silly there buddy.
Killing bad legislation when you’re in the minority party is a huge accomplishment. The problem isn’t that we need new Democrats it’s that we need more Democrats and it’s just stupid to think that the leadership doesn’t want that, even if only because it will make them look good.
as i’m sure you know, without a majority in either the House or Senate the only way Dems will get anything passed is by making bills “Republican” friendly, in which case all of us in Democratic Party may as well just give up and go watch the butt sex in midland…

  32. Marie says:

Wonk, you can’t solve everything with that 3 inch pecker of yours.

  33. Off the Kuff says:

How about a nice big serving of schadenfreude?

Who knew that one little indictment could make so many people so very very happy? How about this? Someone actually…

  34. Wonk says:

Its not the length its the width. I still standby the statement that you need a good stiff one.

  35. PinkDome says:

Wonk, we personally think almost everyone could use a good stiff one every once in a while, but I don’t think this comment thread is making any sense anymore.

  36. stinkymutt says:

Settle down, mofos…everyone just turn off your computer and get some sleep. A grand jury doesn’t just hand down indictments haphazardly and on the fly; it takes quite a bit of tangible evidence to indict someone. Ronnie’s been working extra hard for the past several years to get this bastard and he wouldn’t risk his neck or his job if he didn’t truly feel he could nail him. This one is in the bag, folks, so just relax.

  37. h says:

While folks who have been sitting on the sidelines for the past three years come forward to claim part of the credit for this turn of events, let’s pause to remember some unsung heroes: Craig McDonald of Texans for Public Justice, who filed the first c0omplaint and pursued this case doggedly; Kelly Fero, master Democratic strategist who kept the story alive when no one else seemed interested; Chris Feldman, lawyer extraordinaire at Ivey-Crews-Elliott, the little law firm that could; and some of the good folks down in Houston, starting with AFCSME’s Dee Simpson, who have been taking it to the Hammer in his own district for months on end.

  38. anon says:

“it takes quite a bit of tangible evidence to indict someone”
    Eh. Not really.

  39. capitoldave says:

Let’s not forget that even some Republicans helped killed some bad legislation when they all banded together and backed the Hochberg amendment. Killing any legislation that the Republican leadership wanted was a major achievement, and getting it done this session is a testament to a lot of Democrats. Under Craddick, even a request from a Republican member that didn’t toe the party line 100% was met with a “not only no, but hell no.” A request from a Dem, any request at all, was met with, “not only no, but hell no and fuck you.” We’ll take some seats back; these guys are reeling.

  40. blamegame says:

PD, you’ve got to get this under control. Just when this site was turning a corner into a really great thing it has been inundated (yes, that word) by name-calling and dick-measuring contests.
Can’t we keep this basically civil and informative? We can debate and discuss and show our “inside knowledge” without being petty and insulting. Starting to look more and more like the lege around here. Frankly, a lot of people are bugging out of the site because of it.

  41. gayinmidland says:

Actually I think the banter shows how divided and angry this country truly is. People like myself feel as though we have absolutly no representation in the local, state and national government - so why not be angry and sound off? And unfortunately, the Democratic party (at least on the national level) is way too far to the left for my taste. So where do people like me, that are socially liberal but fiscally conservative go?
